Privacy Policy

Plant Swap is a neighborly marketplace for buying, selling, and swapping plants locally. We keep the data we collect to the minimum needed to connect you with people nearby and let you complete a trade. We do not sell your data, and we don't run ads.

What we collect

• Your account — your name and email, from Google, Apple, or an email sign-in link. If you sign in with Apple's private-relay email, that's what we see.
• Your area — a town name and an approximate location rounded to about a mile, from a ZIP code you enter or your device location if you allow it. We never store or show your exact address.
• Your profile — an optional short bio, an avatar, and an optional phone number that is shown only to the neighbor you're trading with.
• Your plants and listings — photos, titles, descriptions, prices, and pickup/shipping preferences you add.
• Payments — when a sale is paid by card, payment is handled entirely by Stripe; we store only a reference to your saved card and its brand and last four digits. Casual pickups and swaps settle in person and involve no card.
• Notifications — a push-notification token so we can tell you about offers, messages, and deals.

How we use it

• To show you plants near you and show buyers roughly how far away a plant is.
• To connect the two people in a trade — the other person sees your name, your town, and your phone number if you added one.
• To send you notifications you can turn off at any time.
• To keep the community safe (our small moderation team can review reported posts, comments, and listings).

Who we share it with

We use trusted providers to run the app: Google Firebase (accounts, database, hosting, notifications) and Stripe (card payments and seller payouts). They process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We share your name, town, and — if you provided it — your phone number with the neighbor you're actively trading with. We don't sell personal data to anyone.

Your choices

• Turn notifications on or off in the app, or in your device settings.
• Mark plants in your greenhouse public or private.
• Ask us to delete your account and data at any time — see Support.

Children

Plant Swap is for adults. It isn't intended for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
